BloomHouse Concept Video

Bloomhouse is an interactive installation designed to symbolize the confinement, distance, and enclosures we have experienced throughout quarantine while asking visitors to reflect on how we can emerge from this time in a new, better light. Within the colorful walls of this ambiently lit space are illustrated representations of community-generated narratives. Using the input from our community partners, our team of artists will develop the content into linework graphics and illustrations to cover the installation walls. On the SDF weekend, we will invite visitors to color the walls and bring life to the installation's "linework" illustrations. Throughout the weekend, with each visitor's contribution, the piece will begin to bloom into a colorful, diverse, and visually rich narrative full of energy, and personality. Using the participant-generated patchwork of coloring, the piece will evolve through the weekend creating hidden visual details and washing visitors in colorful light. After the weekend the piece went to live with a local partner to be used as a permanent greenhouse.
