At Ease

Created for Freeway Park Seattle

A lighting installation for Freeway Park Seattle was an attempt to lift spirits through light, vibrancy, and something unexpected during the dark months of the year. An old shipwrecked boat now glows like a beacon through the night sharing a message to maintain hope through hardship. After all, a smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.

Design + Build Process

Layers and layers of broom swept watercolor prints were wheat-pasted to the hull of a small reclaimed rowboat. Distressed panting, wheatpaste, and neon lighting, all came together to create a suspended piece that hung from three old trees in Freeway Park.
