Rethink Reuse Installations

Created while at Electric Coffin

Used clothing bricolage sculptures which tell the story of textile waste. 5 installations at 5 different locations in North America over the course of 1 year. During New York’s Fashion Week a 30’ tall woman in a multicolor dress was erected overnight in the middle of NYC’s iconic Oculus station. On earth day a Seattle beach was covered in used clothing in the form of a whimsical sculpture. And in Toronto, we shut off the fountains at Young-Dundas Square rebuilt the water feature out of clothing, and took over the billboards. Each to share the message that the fast fashion and textile industry is one of the largest global polluters.

In collaboration with Edelman, (while working at Electric Coffin) we created 5 unique installations across North America which shined a light on the wastefulness of the fast fashion industry.

Each installation partnered with Value Village/Savers using their off-cast clothing as instrumental elements of each bricolage installation. In Toronto we took over the fountain at Young Dundas Square and built and installation in its place and during fashion week in NYC erected a 40’ tall sculpture of a in a multicolor dress that lived in New York City’s iconic Oculus station. We also made some headlines and won several awards along the way.

Rethink Reuse was a creative campaign using public art installations to bring to light a single message. 10.5 million tons of clothing are discarded each year making it one of the world’s biggest polluters.
